Last Updated: February 17, 2026
The ArguMentor, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates The ArguMentor application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the Service.
By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

• Messages: Mentor chat messages, inline comments
• Mood Data: Daily mood check-in ratings and timestamps
• Agreement Records: Electronic signature data, timestamps, and acknowledgment records
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
• Device Information: Browser type, user agent string, device identifiers
• Usage Data: Feature usage patterns, timestamps, session durations
• Push Notification Tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens for sending notifications to your devices
1.3 Information from Third-Party Services
• Authentication Data: If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from the identity provider. We do not receive or store your password.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use your information for the following purposes:
• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• To authenticate your identity and manage your account
• To facilitate conflict resolution between participants
• To send push notifications (mood reminders, conflict updates, safety alerts)
• To send email notifications (invitations, verification codes, safety alerts)
• To monitor for safety concerns (see Section 5 below)
• To generate aggregate, anonymized analytics
• To enforce our Terms of Service
3. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
3.1 With Other Participants. Conflict data (statements, paraphrases, alternatives, votes) is shared between all participants and mentors assigned to a conflict. This is core to the Service's functionality.
3.2 With Mentors. Mentors assigned to a conflict can view participant activity, conflict progress, and may receive safety alerts about participants.
3.3 With Service Providers. We use the following third-party service providers:
• Google Firebase: Database storage, authentication, cloud functions, and push notifications (see Firebase Privacy Policy)
• EmailJS: Transactional email delivery for invitations and verification codes (see EmailJS Privacy Policy)
• Vercel: Application hosting (see Vercel Privacy Policy)
3.4 For Legal Reasons. We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
3.5 No Sale of Data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
4.1 Storage. Your data is stored in Firebase Realtime Database, hosted by Google Cloud Platform, with servers located in the United States.
4.2 Security Measures. We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase Security Rules for access control, and email-based authentication.
4.3 No Guarantee. Despite our efforts, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
4.4 Breach Notification. In the event of a data breach that materially affects your personal information, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users within 72 hours of discovery via email.
5. SAFETY MONITORING AND HARM DETECTION
The Service includes an automated content monitoring system that scans user-submitted text for language indicating potential self-harm, suicidal ideation, or threats of harm to others. This monitoring operates as follows:
• Detection: Text is analyzed locally within the application using pattern matching. No text is sent to external AI or analysis services for this purpose.
• User Notification: If concerning language is detected, crisis resources (hotline numbers, text lines) are displayed to the user.
• Mentor Notification: If a mentor is assigned to the conflict, they may be notified that concerning content was detected. The notification includes the user's name, conflict title, and the type of concern — but does NOT include the actual text submitted.
• Safety Log: A minimal safety event record (user ID, timestamp, type of concern, context) is stored for auditing purposes. The actual text is NOT stored in the safety log.
• No Blocking: The safety system never prevents a user from submitting their content. It operates transparently alongside normal functionality.
6. DATA RETENTION
6.1 Active Data. Your account information, conflict data, and mood data are retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.
6.2 Deleted Accounts. Upon account deletion request, we will delete your personal account information within 30 days. Conflict data that involves other participants may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve the integrity of ongoing or completed conflict resolutions.
6.3 Backup Retention. Residual copies may remain in backup systems for up to 90 days after deletion.
7. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
• Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data
• Opt-Out: Disable push notifications through your device or browser settings
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@4hci.com. We will respond to requests within 30 days.
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at info@4hci.com.
9. COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE
The Service uses browser localStorage to store session information (device identifiers, cached user data) for authentication and performance purposes. The Service does not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. Firebase may use cookies or similar technologies as part of its authentication and analytics services.
10. THIRD-PARTY LINKS
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., crisis hotlines, our company website). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

12. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy within the Service and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
